Carey Potter Celebrates 40 with Friends at the The Leonard at Logan House 17 April 2010 ~ Downtown ~ Grand Rapids On occasion the Diarists will pack a camera and unexpectedly cover private events. Since two of our favorite venues were hosting birthday parties for two fantastic Grand Rapidian women and on the same night, we got our party clothes on and headed for downtown. Carey Potter, an EGR and Miami University graduate and owner of Brick House Media Group celebrated her 40th birthday surrounded by great friends. The setting was the lovely, historic living room of the Leonard at Logan House. A private accoustical set was played by vocalist Lux Land. Chef Tommy FitzGerald put on his amazing spread of food for the 20+ private guests. The Leonard at Logan House was constructed during a span of history known for social change, prosperity, and optimism. The home was energized by an influential Grand Rapids family (The Harry C. Leonards), with a unique ability to keep in step with the inventiveness of their time. The home's very architecture demonstrates the Leonard family's down-to-earth sophistication and love for their guests. Jacqueline Gilmore Celebrates a Birthday in Style. 17 April 2010 ~ EVE at the B.O.B. ~ Downtown Grand Rapids At around 10:30 pm that same evening, the Diarists headed down to EVE at the B.O.B. to try to catch Jacqueline Gilmore celebrating her special day. We found our way through a packed bar, to the back where the special V.I.P. rooms decked out with swanky furniture, edgy art and trays full of champagne. Jacqueline and Greg Gilmore have got to be one of Grand Rapids' most darling couples. Greg made sure all her birthday guests were taken care of, that the cake came out on time without a candle missed. Champagne flowed freely. Local celebs were abound. It was the play to be. It was rumored that after the cake, Jacqueline and her divas took to the dance floor and danced until after 4 am to the amazing dance/house/electronic/techno mix show put on by DJ Rodney Essenburg.
